Obama is not the answer.
Open your eyes.

Sunday, 4 January 2009

Over the last couple of days, I've been trying to come up with a list of new years resolutions. They're nothing too unrealistic, but I think if I can stick to them, it'll make 2009 awesome.

1.Travel.
Very self explanatory. I want to leave England for quite a while, maybe a month or more. I really want to go somewhere new, where I don't know anyone, not for any horrible self-pitying reasons, I just want a bit of a change for a while.

2.Progress in my job.
Quitting Topshop was a very good decision for me, I didn't want to work in a place just for the sake of working with my friends which at the end of the day, just made me unhappy.
I really enjoy working at Republic, the atmosphere is so much more relaxed than Topshop, but I'm motivated to work hard. Again, I do get to work with my friends, which in a huge bonus, but I've made some good friends in my time there, and I really want to 'move up the ranks' so to speak, so I really want to make something of this job.

3.Read more books.
Another very self explanatory one. I don't read as much as I used to, when I was a kid I loved reading and I really want to get back into it now. I don't want to just read fiction, even though I do enjoy a good novel, I like non-fiction books too and I already have several in mind I want to read.

4.Play shows.
I've been in so many bands, I've been in bands since I was about 15 when I first started playing bass but none of them have ever gone anywhere. This year I actually want to make a go of one, even if it's only a couple of practices, play a couple of shows and release a shitty demo nobody wants to listen to.

5.Get more tattoos.
Money allowing of course...
I know this sounds really stupid and lame, but it's become such an addiction. I'm having my chest done January 13th by Jay Jay at Blood Brothers in London, and it's unreal how excited I am. I know there's going to be a lot more to come after this, first finish my lighthouse, then see what will be next.

6.Pay off my overdraft.
Boring, but it has to be done, and it's really important I do get it done this year, hopefully by summer. Hello lots of very hard working and not much social life, never mind.

7.Start a webzine.
I've been discussing this with some friends for a while now and this year I really want to start writing a webzine with them, nothing spectacular or groundbreaking, just about stuff we're interested in, and hopefully others are too.
Who knows, if it takes off, maybe we could publish it or something stupid.

8.Stay in contact with more people.
I got pretty terrible at this towards the end of '08, so this year I really want to improve on that. There are people who I used to spend all my time with, now I never see them for no good reason, which I feel terrible for. Sure, some of them it's because we live miles apart, but that's what this "social networking" junk is for surely?
